An interview with Rich:
Q. Tell us a bit about yourself?
A. “My name is Rich Parker, I’m 25 years old and have been skating for 15 years. Starting out while on a family holiday in Germany aged 10, it quickly developed into a passion and I was out practising at every given hour with my brother. I started focusing on skating vert ramps (a 12-14ft tall vertical halfpipe) as they were the biggest ramps in the skateparks and so I wanted to conquer them!”
“After working my way up through local, national, then international competitions, I am now the number one inline vert skater in the UK and in 2011 became European Champion.
I practice 3-4 times a week at Creation Skatepark in Birmingham and also cross train a few times a week in the gym, but the best part about my job is the travel, I have been lucky enough to perform and compete all around the world in America, Europe, the middle east, Russia, China, South Korea and Australia.”
Q. What can we expect to see from you this year?
A.”In regards to upcoming events, the inline calendar isn’t set at the start of the year… things tend to get booked up only a couple of months before they happen. So far it looks like there will be contests in the UK, France, Denmark, The Netherlands, Bulgaria and China. The shows are usually UK based, but I also have been contacted by a European show team so it looks likely that I will have some performances on the continent too.”
Q. What is your favourite flavour of Chewits Xtreme?
A.”It’s a tough one but if I had to choose, it would be Sour Apple. But both are pretty XTREME!”
